The non-sexual side of Gender Transition

While, obviously, there is the sexual & behavioral side of Gender Transition, there is also real world day-to-day changes for those who transform; ones which are often overlooked. An article in the Washington Post makes note of these changes for Females who made the Transition to Male.

One Trans Man noted that his professional ideas were taken more seriously as a man than had been as a woman.

Another quickly realized that police saw him as more of a threat as a man than when he had been female.

These are but two examples of changes, good & bad, which most don't think about when considering their gender transition.

It's interesting that Miss posts this - as someone who is just starting out on transition there is a lot of advice about how you will be treated differently. Just like the FtoM above most MtoF find that they are no longer taken seriously at work. One senior manager found that he was essentially frozen out at the "man's club".

It's about time that all this stopped!
